JJ+ Studio creates Casa Cromática: color modules break the hierarchy o

When we think of partitions, walls, and modules, the main idea is the division of spaces. But what if the different modules of a house united spaces instead of separating them?

This is the premise of JJ+ Estudio, which has carved out a niche for itself by creating spaces that are both practical and creative.

In 2022, the studio completed the Casa Escénica project, a home that contains a multipurpose stage with movable blue panels. Thus, the house is not only a home, but also a dance and acrobatics studio simply by moving the panels.

This time, different colors guide the way through the 62 m2 private residence. With a series of volumes placed in the different rooms, JJ+ breaks with the traditionalism and spatial hierarchy we are used to seeing in a home.

Three blocks of color structure the entire renovation. The red room connects the kitchen, living room, and dining room. The blue room serves as a reading room and the bathroom sinks. The green room leads us to the bedroom, and within it, a final yellow module invites us into the more private area of the bathroom.

The efficient resolution of a limited space that also provides a distinctive touch is the house's signature . However, there is another element that makes the project even more special: its intention to unify the old and the new , creating with the pre-existing canvas. The house featured, beneath the current floor covering, the building's original hydraulic tiles. The floor was completed with more tiles of the same material, creating a dark frame and thus making this temporary coexistence possible.

In this Chromatic House , color dilutes the spaces and presents them as a free path that the inhabitant can explore as they please. The house also features movable enclosures to temporarily create smaller rooms, transforming the space into a dynamic and unconventional home.

JJ+'s proposals respond to a need to redefine homes and their various spaces without sacrificing functionality. The Casa Cromática project represents that freedom of movement, the ability to choose how to inhabit your home, and ultimately, the union of elements and materials to create a home.
